BFKS at Hiester Lanes

Day #1 of the 40th Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake is done, and what a day it was!

We thank our teams who had all kinds of FUN while bowling to HELP KIDS!  There were four teams from Diamond Credit Union:  the Golden Girls, Guys & Dolls, Diamonds Sparkle, and D.R.E.A.M. (Diamond Rules Everything Around Me).  We had two teams from the law firm of Kozloff Stoudt along with two teams from our friends at the Reading-Berks Association of Realtors (RBAR).  And oh, we cannot forget our two Morrisey Squad teams plus two Littles Teams (sponsored by local businesses and individuals).

Our Basket Auction was a great success with seven (7) lucky winners — including Little Brother Jacob (pictured here with BFKS Committee Chair Sidney Purnell) who walked away with a huge basket from Russo’s…well, he got a few yards, then his mom had to help him out and carry it the rest of the way.  Bowlers also took the opportunity to submit tickets for the BIG Raffle — taking a chance(s) to win a weekend trip to Vermont; our ‘Barrow of Spirits worth nearly $1,000 (thank you, Brentwood Industries, for the wheelbarrow); or one of seven autographed Philadelphia Eagles prizes (6 footballs and 1 helmet).  We want to thank Jersey Mike’s for donating subs for our bowlers last night.  We also want to thank the staff at Hiester Lanes, who played great hosts to our teams, our staff, and our volunteers.

We’ll have another list of Basket Auction prizes for Day #2 of BFKS, which is Sunday (April 24th) at Berks Lanes, and bowlers there will also have a chance to put their tickets in for those great BIG Raffle prizes.  We’ve got nearly two dozen teams registered right now, and guess what?  We have room for more, or should I say — to those not yet registered — room for YOU!  But Sunday is coming quickly so call (610) 373-5544 to register or form your team on-line at https://give.classy.org/BerksBFKS2022.

We ask each team to raise a minimum of $300.  You get all that mentioned above, but even better — you get to know that you had so much FUN to HELP KIDS!  The 40th Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County and helps keep our four quality-driven mentoring programs FREE-OF-CHARGE to our Littles and their families.  Come on and join us, and become one of our DEFENDERS OF POTENTIAL!  Together, we can all encourage and ignite the potential in our Littles in Berks County.
