Alumni Week - Big Sister Nicki Morrissey

Asked why she got involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, former Big Sister (and current member of our Board of Directors) Nicki Morrissey says “Having the opportunity to match with a Little through BBBS of Berks…gives both the Little and the Big endless growth opportunities – working together to navigate life while having fun and building a bond that will last a lifetime.”

Nicki is today’s Alumni Week honoree!  She said that she is forever grateful to BBBS of Berks for connecting her with then-Little Sister Diamond – and Diamond echoes those sentiments.  She says, “Nicki helped me grow as a person; helped me be more open-minded on situations and see different sides to many things in life.”  Further, Diamond said “She taught me how to be confident in my abilities and shoot for my dreams.”  Diamond thanked Nicki for being an amazing support system for her getting her degree and moving away to enlist in the military & start her career.

Nicki encourages others to mentor, “The youth in our communities are our future, and we need to invest in them.”  Nicki says, “We need to ignite potential in our communities’ youth and the BBBS One-To-One mentor program is a great opportunity to do just that!”
