BBBS of Berks Executive Director Jim Smith was at the offices of BB&T today (March 5th) to accept a check in the amount of $2,500. The funds were donated by BB&T as part of the PA Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Smith is pictured center with BB&T’s David Roland to his right and Carey Babczak (also of BB&T) to his left.
BB&T was the second EITC contribution received by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County this year. Last month, Quadrant EPP donated $5,000 through the EITC program.
The EITC Program allows approved companies to donate a portion of their state taxes to EITC-eligible nonprofits. EITC donations help fund or SMART (Students & Mentors Achieving Results Together) programs at Conrad Weiser, Hamburg, and Oley Valley School Districts.
