A Busy June - including Stop the Violence event

June was indeed a busy month for staff here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, including participation in the Stop the Violence Showcase on June 18th.  Presented by Healing Hearts-Berks/RIZE, the "I Am Original" Stop the Violence Showcase featured Guest Speakers Eddie Moran (Mayor, City of Reading), Dr. Movita Johnson-Harrell, and Hip Hop Educator/Historian Queen Michelle.  Program Administrator Bethany Redmond-Baez and Casework Manager Janet Ortiz were there as well!

Earlier this month, BBBS staff participated in the BCIU's Core Connections Conference -- featuring hundreds of educators and educational leaders from throughout Berks County.  Meanwhile, Executive Director Jim Smith was in Indianapolis for the BBBSA Bigger Together National Conference -- during which he introduced COUL (the Club Of Unmatched Littles) to BBBS staffers from around the country as part of a group-mentoring panel.

We ended this busy month with a chance for our Littles and Bigs to get their hands dirty in a couple of different ways.  Last night's COUL & Match activity included tie-dying (something our Littles and Bigs always enjoy), then we had Board member Sidney Purnell here to teach them how to transplant plants.
