55 Years of Mentoring!
This week, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, PA, celebrates 55 years of defending potential in the youth of Berks County!
Since our agency was created, we have provided quality-driven mentoring programs to thousands of youth. In 2022, our agency — with the help of our many volunteers — provided more than 11,500 mentoring program service hours to 169 youth…and we hope to serve even more in 2023. Over the past 10 years, we have had a 99% high school graduation rate; a 99% grade advancement rate; and less than a 1% teenage pregnancy rate among our Littles.
Our four mentoring programs are provided AT NO CHARGE to our Littles and their families. You can help keep our services free to our Littles and their families. Join us for the 41st Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake in April! Bowl For Kids’ Sake is our largest internal fundraiser and you don’t need to be an ace bowler to participate, because it’s not really about bowling…it’s about having FUN to HELP KIDS!
Bowling teams of up to five (5) people are asked to raise a minimum of $300. Besides the free game of bowling, each bowler gets a BFKS event t-shirt, food/refreshments, and a Thank You envelope with coupons from local businesses. Door prizes are awarded at least hourly. Individual bowlers raising $150 or more are eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing of $500 worth of Boscov’s gift cards. We also have a Basket Auction and our BIG Raffle plus 50/50s during the bowling days on April 25th at Hiester Lanes and April 29-30th at Berks Lanes.
