The 38th Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake – Virtual Style — is in the books! Virtual BFKS – June 2nd thru June 30th

It’s not about bowling…it’s about having FUN to HELP KIDS! That’s why the 38th Annual Bowl For Kids’ sake has gone virtual! In this difficult time, mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County is even more important for our Littles. Due to the current emergency conditions relating to COVID-19, the 38th Annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake (currently scheduled for April 25th-26th at Berks Lanes and May 12th at Hiester Lanes) has been postponed. 2019 Annual Awards

Congratulations to our Annual Awards recipients for 2019!  Our Annual Awards are given out each year as part of our Annual Holiday Party, which was held December 19th. Out-going Board President Karen Meck was honored as our David Hyman Volunteer of the Year.  Karen has been on our Board for nearly seven years and has served on a number of Committees including our Capital Campaign Committee, the Planning Committee, and so much more.  During her tenure as Board President, Karen has overseen major changes in policies, technology, and branding at the agency.  She epitomizes the term “Defender of Potential.” Karen…

Carriage House Activities Center Recognized

The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance presented a Building Berks award to the Carriage House Activities Center and some of the people who made it a reality.  The Building Berks Awards & Trade Expo took place October 16th at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Reading; and the Carriage House Activities Center won in the Non-Profit category.  Executive Director Jim Smith, Board President Karen Meck, and Capital Campaign Chair Jason Hornberger were on-hand to accept the award — along with representatives of Dolan Construction and Muhlenberg Greene Architects. 2019 Jason Claudfelter Golf Invitational

The rain held off, as the golfers made their way around Willow Hollow Golf Course teeing off another RECORD YEAR for the Jason Claudfelter Golf Invitational.  This year’s event on August 16th was the highest grossing golf event ever for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County! In the end, it came down to the wire.  One of the two teams for RKL LLP came in at 3rd Place with a score of 56.  Two teams — Sam’s Team (last year’s champions) and Customers Bank — tied for 1st & 2nd with a score of 54…but it was Customers Bank…
